The History of Sunnymead

Sunnymead Kennels and Cattery are the modern face of a long established small holding which, over time has been home to a variety of sheep, pigs, ducks, chickens, rabbits and, of course, cats and dogs.  A residential property was built on the holding in the 1920s. We believe the Kennels began trading in the early 1980s and have grown block by block since then. The family of one of our customers has been boarding their animals here for over 29 years.

Sunnymead has previously been a racing greyhound kennel, an animal sanctuary, a training establishment for dogs for security work, breeding kennel and cattery, pet food retailer and, of course, since the 1980s, has been offering Five Paw accommodation to four legged guests.

21st century Sunnymead revolves around it’s four-legged guests. We are continually upgrading the boarding facilities. Along with the kennel, cattery, grooming studio and small animal haven, we have an orchard and dog training area, a small arboretum and a large wild flower meadow. We have actively encouraged wildlife in the natural areas of the property. Existing hedges are being restored and the  ones we planted are taking shape.
